We are sad to report the passing of former Assemblymember Herman (Denny) Farrell Jr., who passed away on May 26th. Mr. Farrell retired from the Assembly last September after the 2017 session. He was 86.
Mr. Farrell was a long-time champion of the Neighborhood and Rural Preservation Programs. More recently, he served as chair of the Ways and Means committee in the Assembly, and was a fixture at the annual joint hearings on housing, during the annual state budget negotiations.
At the time of Assemblyman Farrell’s retirement, Governor Cuomo said “Very few public servants can have the long and storied career he has had and still receive universal praise on both sides of the aisle for what he has done and how he has done it.”
